Lab 5: Introduction to Spreadsheets

In this lab the student will create a simple spreadsheet. The application will be a personal budget for the 2001-2002 academic year (Sept 01 - Aug 02). The sheet will have an income section, an expense section, and a computation of net savings/debt.

The requirements for the sheet are that:

• it have a column for each month Sept 2001 through Aug 2002, (or Jun 2001 - May 2002)
• the income section have at least three rows representing different income sources,
• the expense section have at least 6 rows corresponding to different expense categories,
• the rows and columns be appropriately labeled.
• the rows and columns have totals that are computed by formulas/functions
• the overall appearance of the budget sheet is attractive through the use of appropriate: formats, column widths, outlines etc.

The sheet is to be created using EXCEL and the resulting file should be saved using your initials and "lab5" e.g., JMB_lab5.XLS (Save in EXCAL 97/98 format)

This file should be handed in by attaching it to the appropriate message in the assignments area of manhattan
