Instructions for CS100 Chapter Quizzes Winter 20001

The textbook comes with a CD which allows us to take electronic, multiple choice quizzes. These quizzes will substitute for end-of-chapter exercises. We will take a (minimum)10 question quiz over each chapter we cover this term. You are to retake them until you score 80% or higher. Since the grades count, you may choose to continue until you have even a higher score.

Procedure

STEP ONE - Read the chapter assigned. Record any questions or observations you have so that you may ask or remark on them at the next class period.

STEP TWO - Use the class CD and proceed through the table of contents to the appropriate chapter and select the chapter quiz. A minimum 10 question quiz is required. You may choose to do more or even all since at least 50% of the test questions will come from this source. Answer the multiple choice questions by clicking on the appropriate answer. When complete if the score is satisfactory (80% minimum) proceed to step three. If the score is not satisfactory, start again after rereading the chapter. The quizzes are open book/note.

STEP THREE - At the end of the quiz select save results and save a copy of the results to your floppy or hard drive. You may chose to print the results for yourself as well.

STEP FOUR - log into manhattan as usual. Select the assignments option and open the assignment for the appropriate chapter quiz.

STEP FOUR - REPLY to this assignment and ATTACH your results file to your reply. In the body of your reply state your name and section number. DO NOT click the box for html/zip files since it is not one of these types of files.

You may verify that your result is there at any time by entering manhattan and viewing the assignments area. If there are multiple files turned in before the deadline, the higher score will be counted. The same applies if there are multiple files turned in less than 1 week late.
