Goal One: A survey of the history, uses and ethical issues of computing. This goal will be met through the use of the Beekman text. The two tests will cover the text material.

Goal Two: An introduction to general purpose computer software: word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and web software. This goal will be met through the use of the labs and projects involving these applications. The instructor will assign twelve application projects which the students will complete. In addition, some of the questions on the tests will deal with applications.

Goal Three: An introduction to how computers are used in the student's own discipline. This goal will be met in three ways. Some of the material in the Long text will involve computer uses in a variety of disciplines. Students will complete a written assignment dealing with computer use and or misuse in their field of study.

Attendance:

Attendance will be taken daily. Students with excessive absences may be required to do extra work to demonstrate their mastery of any missed topics. Further, excessive absences will relieve the instructor of any obligation to "catch up" a student through private tutoring.

Late Work:
