In his book Quality with Soul (2001), Robert Benne profiles six church-related colleges and universities, using his typology as in the IS 101 Reader as an analytical tool. Benne had the luxury of visiting each of the six schools as part of his research. Unfortunately, because of time limitations and depletion of the IS 101 travel budget, we cannot do the same type of research. Instead, you will use college web sites to understand the church identity of your assigned colleges or universities.
You will select two colleges with different religious affiliations. Carefully study the colleges' web sites. What is the denominational affiliation (or historical affiliation) of this institution? Can you find any evidence (curricular or co-curricular) of how this identity continues to influence the institution? How do Benne's typology and other course readings help you to understand the college's church-identity (keep in mind that every reading may not help you analyze every college or university)? How do the institutions compare and/or contrast with each other AND with Wartburg?
Pick two (2) colleges below and write a 3 page paper that analyzes their religious identity and compares them to each other and to Wartburg. Do not select two colleges from the same religious/denominational tradition, but a college may be from the same tradition as Wartburg.
